Program has been working with these folks to help others to remember our Heritage. They have been recognized now by the

Purpose
The purpose of the Texas Buffalo Soldier Association is to provide support and guidance that preserves places of
conscience and commemoration of the Texas African American military experience. In addition to preserving and commemorating
the story of the Buffalo Soldiers, the Association also illuminates the world in which they lived and worked by chronicling
the experiences of vaqueros, African American cowboys, American Indians, frontier women, and other cultural groups during
the 1800s and interprets our shared Texas heritage.
Goals
The first goal of the Texas Buffalo Soldier Association provides support to charitable,
educational and natural/cultural preservation activities for the public.
The second goal of the Texas Buffalo Soldier Association identifies
minority citizens, sites and properties that have historical and cultural significance in Texas and American history.
The third goal of the Texas Buffalo Soldier
Association provides technical assistance and guidance with minority programs, events and projects that preserve or enhance
the natural/cultural resources of Texas.
Mission Statement
